VEHICLE INTO BRIDGE WITH 1 TRAPPED

Spencerport firefighters responded to the lift bridge on Union St. for a vehicle that crashed into the bridge with one person trapped.  The "Jaws of Life"  hydraulic rescue tool had to be used to free the victim.  Photos by Tom Clark.


 
   
   
FORCIBLE ENTRY TRAINING

Spencerport volunteer firefighters received some excellent training recently.  They were taught how to force open doors that are locked.  They used simulators at the North Greece training facility on Latta Rd.  There are several different style of locks and each was represented at the training.  Photos by Tim Stevely.

CANDLE LEFT BURNING STARTS FIRE

Spencerport volunteers were called out in the early morning hours for a report of curtains burning in an apartment on Nicole Dr.  Once on location they discovered that the Ogden Police had knocked the fire down with an extinguisher. The curtains had caught  fire due to an unattended candle.  There was damage to to the window and wall surrounding the window.  Please DO NOT leave candles burning when you go to bed or when no one is going to be there to monitor them.  Photo by Bill Hallinan.


 
VENTILATION TRAINING

Spencerport volunteer firefighters practiced cutting holes in a donated house on Union St. near Rt. 531.  The purpose of cutting holes in the roof is to allow smoke, heat and gases out of a burning structure.which makes firefighting operations easier for the firefighters inside. Also cuts were made in the walls under windows to create a doorway for emergency exit paths out of a burning structure.  Photos by Bill Hallinan.

Spencerport volunteer firefighters responded behind the state DOT building on Union St. for a semi dump truck that rolled on to its side.  The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  Photos by Justin Christie.


 
   
   
SFD RESPONDS TO 2 CRASHES IN ONE

Spencerport volunteer firefighters responded to Manitou Rd. for a car that struck a deer.  While at  the scene a 4 vehicle chain reaction crash happened about 100 feet from the 1st crash.

SFD ATTENDS BIKE RODEO

The Spencerport Kiwanas Club in conjunction with Ogden Recreation held a bike rodeo for kids.  Along with the rodeo were displays by the Ogden Police, Spencerport Ambulance, Village of Spencerport Electric and the Spencerport Fire District.  SFD members Mitch Flagg and Tim Stevely displayed Pumper 2914 and educated kids on the operation and purpose of the truck.  Photos by Tim Stevely.

MOTORCYCLE VS. TRUCK MVA

Spencerport volunteer firefighters responded to a motorcycle vs. pick-up truck crash on West Ridge Rd.  One person sustained serious injuries.  The  fire department remained on scene for several hours utilizing scene lights from the rescue truck to assist the Monroe County Sheriff's Dept with the investigation.
